Dismissal Procedure for Academic and Non-Academic Reasons

Dismissal for Academic Reasons

Students will normally be put on academic probation for next scheduled course and given opportunity to improve their academic performance. Keystone College will try its best to provide any possible resource to help students in this case. However, if students fail to make adequate academic progress according to the timelines and requirements set for their chosen program, he/she may be dismissed. When a student is dismissed, the academic record will indicate “Incomplete/Dismissed”.

A student in any program who is dismissed will not be eligible to apply for readmission to the institute for at least one year. After one year, students who have been dismissed from a program may be admitted to the same program provided they meet all admission requirements in effect for that program at the time they apply. Such applications must be accompanied by a statement from the Campus Manager/Senior Educational Administrator who recommended the dismissal outlining the reasons for which the student was dismissed. Compelling evidence must be presented that a more successful outcome is likely if the student is to be readmitted.

All cases for readmission must be reviewed and approved by the Campus Manager/Director and/or Senior Educational Administrator. Students dismissed from a program more than once are not eligible to be considered for admission.

The academic record will indicate “Dismissed- Academic reason”.

Dismissed – Failure to Attend

A student who fails to register and/or becomes absent without leave from their program for more than 10% of the program consecutively, he/she may be dismissed from the program. The academic record will indicate “Dismissed”.

The institute must first make reasonable attempts to contact the student by e-mail, telephone and/or regular mail. If there is no response after repeated attempts, the Campus Manager/Senior Educational Administrator may recommend that the student be dismissed. The Campus Manager/Senior Educational Administrator must discuss case of dismissal and compelling reasons behind such dismissal, notes of meetings should be recorded for future reference.

The academic record will indicate “Dismissed”.

A student would be assessed till the date of formal dismissal/withdrawal procedures and may be liable to pay any outstanding fees up to that date if not paid earlier

Dismissed – for Non-academic Reasons

Keystone College reserves the right to dismiss as student from the program due to non-payment of any outstanding fees as per contract. Dismissal for non-academic reasons would not prevent the student from immediately applying for entry into the program again.

The academic record will indicate “Dismissed-Non Academic Reason”.
